Our Services & Process

Our Services

  • Where tree removal is necessary, we carry out the work safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption. Trees may need to be removed due to safety concerns, poor health, storm damage or unsuitable location.

Depending on access and space, trees can be felled from the ground using directional felling or dismantled section by section. In restricted areas, our climbers use ropes, rigging systems and controlled lowering techniques to safely remove large stems and branches. Where required, we can also carry out removals using a cherry picker.

All arisings are processed on site, with brushwood chipped and timber removed or retained as requested.

  • Crown reduction involves carefully reducing the height and spread of a tree while retaining its natural shape and structure. The aim is to reduce weight on individual limbs, lower wind stress, improve light levels, and help the tree remain well-suited to its surroundings.

All crown reductions are carried out to industry standards, ensuring the tree’s main framework and healthy growth are preserved without over-reducing, which can be harmful to the tree.

  • Pollarding is a heavy form of pruning used to control the size of a tree by cutting growth back to established pollard points. It is best started on young trees and then maintained on a regular cycle.

Because pollarded trees rely on repeated management, ongoing maintenance is essential to ensure safe regrowth and long-term tree health. Re-pollarding is usually carried out every 3–5 years, depending on the species.

  • We provide professional site clearance for domestic and commercial projects, using a combination of skilled operators and specialist machinery where required. From small garden clearances to large-scale development sites, we safely and efficiently remove trees, hedging, and surrounding vegetation to prepare land for the next stage of work.

Where access allows, larger equipment can be brought in to speed up clearance and reduce overall disruption.

  • Hedges provide attractive boundaries, privacy, and valuable habitat for wildlife. Regular hedge trimming helps keep them dense, healthy, and under control, while preventing excessive shading or structural failure.

We carry out hedge trimming and ongoing hedge management for domestic, commercial, and rural properties. Many clients choose regular maintenance visits once or twice a year to keep hedges looking neat and well maintained.

All work is planned with wildlife in mind. Where nesting birds may be present, we assess each hedge carefully and ensure all work complies with current wildlife legislation.

  • Hedge reduction involves significantly reducing the height and/or width of an overgrown hedge to bring it back under control. This type of work is suitable where hedges have been left unmanaged, are causing excessive shading, or have outgrown their space.

Reductions are carried out with care to restore a more manageable size while maintaining the hedge’s structure and long-term health. Ongoing maintenance is often recommended after reduction to prevent rapid regrowth and keep the hedge under control.

All hedge reduction work is planned responsibly, with careful consideration given to hedge species, timing, and the presence of nesting birds.

  • After a tree has been removed, the remaining stump can be left in place or removed, depending on how the site will be used. Where removal is required, we offer professional stump grinding to eliminate trip hazards, improve appearance, and make way for replanting or development.

Stump grinding involves using specialist machinery to grind the stump below ground level. Grindings are normally left in situ to break down naturally, leaving a level surface once settled. Removal of grindings can also be arranged where required.

  • We provide an emergency call-out service for storm-damaged, fallen, or dangerous trees that pose an immediate risk to people or property. Whether a tree has partially failed, is blocking access, or has suffered structural damage, we respond quickly to make the situation safe.

All emergency work is assessed on arrival and carried out safely using appropriate equipment and experienced operators.

  • Deadwood removal involves the selective removal of dead or dying branches throughout the canopy of a tree. This is most commonly carried out in the interests of safety, as deadwood can be dislodged during high winds and pose a risk to people or property below.

In some situations, deadwood may be intentionally retained where it does not present a safety risk, as it can provide valuable habitat for wildlife such as bats, birds, and invertebrates. Each tree is assessed individually to balance safety, tree health, and ecological value.

  • Crown Lifting: Crown lifting involves the removal of selected lower branches to increase clearance beneath a tree. This is commonly carried out to improve access, increase light levels, or provide clearance over footpaths, roads, gardens, and buildings.

Crown Thinning: Crown thinning is the selective removal of smaller branches throughout the canopy to reduce density. This allows more light to pass through the crown and improves air movement, while retaining the tree’s overall size and natural form.

  • Formative pruning is the selective pruning of trees to encourage a strong, well-shaped structure. While commonly used on young trees, it is also an important practice for mature fruit trees, helping to improve form, airflow, and productive growth.

By addressing poorly formed growth and structural weaknesses, formative pruning supports healthier development and long-term performance.

  • We provide professional tree planting for domestic, commercial, and rural sites. Species selection and planting locations are carefully considered to suit the site and minimise future issues.

Trees are planted using best practice methods to encourage strong root establishment, with optional aftercare and formative pruning available where required.

  • Coppicing is a traditional tree management technique where a tree is cut back to a low stump, known as a stool, to encourage strong regrowth in multiple stems. This method is only suitable for certain species and is commonly used in woodland management, screening, and specialist planting schemes.

Once coppiced, trees must be managed on a regular cycle to maintain healthy regrowth and prevent stools from becoming unstable. Coppicing is carried out at appropriate times of year to support long-term tree health and sustainable management.
